Day 1: Arusha to Rongai Gate to Simba Camp

Distance: Approximately 8 km (5 miles)
Duration: 4-5 hours
Elevation Gain: 1,950m to 2,600m

Begin your adventure with a scenic drive to the Rongai Gate. After registration, embark on a trek through lush rainforest, spotting varying wildlife along the way.

Evening:

Arrive at Simba Camp, enjoy dinner, and settle in for an overnight stay surrounded by nature.

Day 2: Simba Camp to Second Cave Camp

Distance: Approximately 4 km (2.5 miles)
Duration: 2-3 hours
Elevation Gain: 2,600m to 3,450m

After breakfast, enjoy an easy trek to the Second Cave Camp, where you will be greeted by panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes.

Evening:

Day 3: Second Cave Camp to Kikelewa Camp

Distance: Approximately 10 km (6.2 miles)

Elevation Gain: 3,450m to 3,600m

The trek continues toward Kikelewa Camp, showcasing unique vegetation and stunning vistas.

Evening:

Arrive at Kikelewa Camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Kikelewa to Mawenzi Tarn Camp

Distance: Approximately 8 km (5 miles)
Duration: 5-7 hours

Today, you will hike to Mawenzi Tarn Camp, positioned under the spectacular Mawenzi Peak. Enjoy breathtaking sights along the trail.

Day 5: Mawenzi to Summit and Descent to Horombo Camp

Distance: Approximately 20 km (12.4 miles) round trip
Duration: 10-14 hours
Elevation Gain: 4,330m to 5,895m and back to 3,720m

Rise early for the final push to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa! Celebrate your achievement with a stunning view of the sunrise over the mountain. Following the descent, you'll reach Horombo Camp for a well-deserved dinner and overnight stay.


Day 6: Horombo Camp to Marangu Gate

Distance: Approximately 18 km (11.2 miles)

Your final trek leads you back down to the Marangu Gate, where you will conclude your memorable experience on the Rongai Route. A vehicle will then transfer you back to Arusha to relax and celebrate your success.
